I created FLOURISH because I believe mobility is something worth protecting before you lose it.

My experience with functional mobility is both professional and personal. For nearly three decades, I have worked as a physical therapist helping people eliminate pain, restore movement, improve function, and return to the activities that matter to them. But my belief in the importance of maintaining mobility began long before I became a physical therapist.

At the age of 23, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune condition called ankylosing spondylitis. Over the course of time I experienced progressive joint pain and the gradual loss of mobility common with this diagnosis. By age 32, the progression of my condition ultimately resulted in me choosing to obtain bilateral hip replacement.

I could have allowed this experience to define what I believed my body was capable of doing. I chose something different.

Mobility Became a Lifestyle

Living with a condition capable of progressively decreasing my movement taught me something that textbooks and clinical training alone could not: maintaining your physical abilities requires intention.

I made a deliberate decision to take an active role in preserving my own movement function through regular exercise, routine stretching, weight management, postural awareness, and injury prevention. Those choices have allowed me to continue living a full and active physical life despite the mobility challenges I experienced at a relatively young age. Through my intention, I am still able to help others live a fulfilling and active lifestyle.

Don't wait until you've lost movement to appreciate its value.

With 29 years of experience in the physical therapy industry– including clinical practice, operational leadership, and executive roles within a top therapy provider organization – I now look at the profession from a very different perspective.

Physical therapist are experts in understanding how strength, flexibility, posture, joint mobility, previous injuries, occupation, physical activity, and aging can influence a person's ability to function. Yet too often, people don't encounter a physical therapist until after something has gone wrong. This approach is too reactive.

I believe physical therapists should be among the first medical professionals people consider when they have concerns about their musculoskeletal health - not simply the professionals they are referred to after weeks or months of increasing pain, declining function, expensive MRI’s, and pain medication.

Flourish allows me to combine nearly three decades of orthopedic physical therapy experience, advanced clinical certifications, executive level healthcare leadership, and my own personal experience with mobility challenges to provide you access to a forward thinking musculoskeletal approach that doesn't have to begin with an injury.

My goal isn't simply to help you recover after your next injury. It's to help you remain capable, independent, and active enough to flourish while doing the things that make your life rewarding.
